As we reach out and support each other on a global level to face the challenges in an unprecedented time, we at IDP are also extending our arms to welcome a new country into our community. It is with great pleasure that we announce the launch of IDP Student Placement operations in Kenya, the latest step in our continued expansion of Student Placement services across the Middle East & Africa region. The growth and diversification of students finding international study placements benefits all, from the student themselves to wider society. We are delighted to be able to include Kenya in the IDP family and to connect our partners with Kenyan students.
This is a new and exciting milestone in IDP's geographical expansion in the region. Kenya is one of Africa's key sources of international students to many of our destinations, with the potential to become one of our biggest markets in the region.
In line with our existing licensee offices model, we have signed an agreement with Uniabroad in Kenya to offer student placement activities under IDP-Uniabroad name. With Uniabroad a well-established presence in Kenya since 2011 and IDP's long history and strong digital capabilities, we look forward to providing top-quality placement services to Kenyan students and our partner institutions.
The new IDP Student Placement office is located in the Westlands district of Nairobi city, an area that is home to many international student placement providers. The office is headed by Country Manager Stella Kinyanjui and supported by Stella Githaiga as Office Manager. A further 5 full-time counsellors are supporting placement for institutions in Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Ireland. The new student placement system will go live on April 6th and our partners will start to receive applications under IDP-Uniabroad from that day onwards.
With the opening of these new operations, we are confident that we will be significantly improving the international study opportunities of Kenyan students, enabling them to fulfil their lifelong learning and career aspirations.
